Life's rich tapestry
At our AGM we take the opportunity to list 5 positives from the previous year. Namely, that this year we celebrated the fact that we fulfilled our members’ wish list. That 7 of our members volunteered to take part in the children’s sessions by fully complying with the regulatory DBS checks and safeguarding policies. That our continued relationship with IKEA goes from strength to strength. This summer we had +/- 100 children and adults taking part in the summer project and the Christmas Santa Stocking project saw 60+ children and their families stopping by to join in the fun. That we ran a 6-week children’s sewing project where the children got to use a sewing machine for the first time and managed to make fun, practical items from scratch.
Last but not least our funders Comic Relief (supported by Cheshire Community Foundation) this year provided us with over £2,000 to cover our core costs so that we could continue making a difference, particularly with young people. In a nutshell, we got to do the good bits without having to worry too much about the electricity, water, insurance costs etc (the grown-up stuff). We were able to meet up and work with young children and their families in and around our village so they could see what fun there is in actually making practical things.
Everyone needs back up! We are in the fortunate position to be “only” a phone call or email away from getting the best advice possible. A massive thanks to our funders and supporters: Cheshire Community Foundation, the Steve Morgan Foundation, Warrington Voluntary Action, the Abbey family and private individuals. We couldn't do this without you!
To quote one of our members ..."here's to another year of friendship, fun and laughter"!
