We are about community, a place to come and share our passion and skills. A place of friendship and wellbeing. We aim to help combat isolation.
Most members are skilled at sewing, or at least have an interest and they bring in their own project and work at their own pace. Some are novices who want to learn. We try and cater for all needs.
The last week in every month we try and get everyone involved in a one-off project, it can be” setting in” a sleeve, making a bowling bag or simply making a bound buttonhole.
We have a treasure trove of “things” in our sewing unit. We’ve got practically every sewing notion you could think of from patterns to books, elastic (yes, we’ve got stock!) to leather
Speaking of which we’re looking to set up leather crafting sessions!
We try to encourage members to join in with our fundraising projects, whether it’s making raffle prizes, volunteering at IKEA, the town shows/fetes. Some of our volunteers aren’t members.
Apart from making money it’s good to meet and make new friends. We wouldn’t have half the members if we hadn’t been out and about selling our wares!
As with everything we do it’s not compulsory.
